Tensions between countries rise every day. Latest tension is between Israel and Syria. These two countries are technically at war, although the border was quiet until the Syrian conflict happened in 2011. As the Syrian conflict started, a lot of missiles ended up in Israel by mistake. Now, Syrian forces attacked Israel and they are fighting back. This means the war continues.

This week, Syria launched an attack on Israel. Now, Israel is fighting back, as Israel Defense Forces [IDF] have launched missiles at Syria’s Quneitra province after missiles from the region allegedly were sent into Israel.
The IDF said two rockets landed in open territory and caused no damage or injuries but red-alert missile sirens were activated in several communities on the Golan.
“[The IDF] will not tolerate any attempt to harm the State of Israel’s sovereignty and the security of its residents, and holds the Syrian regime responsible for anything that occurs on its territory,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said, according to The Jerusalem Post.
The Syrian media has reported that Israel struck positions near the city of Quneitra, which lies just a short distance from the border between the two countries.
Syria is Israel’s most unpredictable and unstable neighbor, given the various heavily armed radical groups battling President Bashar Assad. Syria poses one of the largest risks to Israel for sudden escalation.
This comes as US Defense Secretary James Mattis is visiting Israel. There, he confirmed that Syria has dispersed its aircraft following the American Tomahawk strikes against the Shayrat Air Base where warplanes that carried out Tuesday’s deadly Khan Sheikhoun chemical gas attack were based. He also warned Assad against any further use of chemical weapons, saying “they’d be ill-advised to try to use any again. We’ve made that very clear with our strike.”
It looks like that Syria wants war and they will get it. They didn’t learn anything from the US attack and let’s hope they don’t try striking Israel again. Also, what is the point of these attack? What are your thoughts on this issue?
